3 or 4???

after work last friday, i headed to my favorite barbershop on greenwhich village.  i noticed that it was not crowded which is odd since it's a very small shop that has a good following.  i guess i was lucky to arrive early.

once seated, i told the barber that i want a short haircut - sides and on the top.  the barber asked me if i want the sides 3 or 4?  i don't even know what he was talking about but i figured it has something to do with the cut.  i said 3 hoping that i made the right choice - which i did (whew).

after completing the sides, he went straight to the top.  while cutting my bangs, i noticed that it still a bit longer than what i would normally prefer.  i am not trying to get a military haircut or going for the spike look.  i was just trying to get a shorter haircut.  i asked the barber if he can cut it a bit shorter.  now here is the funny part about this conversation.  he told me that if get it shorter, it won't look good.  i don't normally get such advise but i like his honesty.  i told him that i am aware of **that.  i just thought it was still long and if he can cut it just a tad.  he said he will cut it but not too short so i agreed.  i'm just glad that the barber knows what he was doing and that he gives his opinion.  i the end, the cut looks great and not the ugly short hair.

**during my high school days, a part of the curriculum in order to graduate is military training class (known as Citizen Military Training or CAT).  it's for both girls and boys and it's often held on a saturday.  one of the requirements for the boys is to have a military haircut.  it was a shock especially if it's your first time having a very short hair (almost like no hair at all).

someone like you...

before i end the day, i found this country singer david nail who did adele's cover hit, someone like you.  i like adele's version but adding a country twist to it is not bad at all.  in fact, it actually sounds great.

i am hot....really

for someone who prefers winter than summer, this weekend is not going to be easy. the following excerpts is from cnn.com:
Around 4 p.m., the thermometer in St. Louis read 105 degrees, the ninth straight day it has topped the century mark in that Missouri city. That may sound bad, but it's relatively cool compared with the 110 degrees the National Weather Service is forecasting for Saturday.
A similar story will play out in many other locales. New York should hit 100 degrees, as should Lexington, Kentucky. And in Washington, D.C., the thermometer is expected to reach 103 degrees, and the heat index will make it feel like 113.
 i miss you snow.....

ac360 is gay???...

you probably already heard, read, or seen on tv that mr. ac360 aka anderson cooper is gay.  if not, let me say it one more time, he is gay.  can we move on to my story now??

so one of my co-workers earlier today called me and asked me if i knew that mr. ac360 was gay.  her boyfriend sent her a link to a news article detailing the "coming out" of mr. ac360.  my response to her was that it was old news - meaning she was one day late.  i told her that it was in the news since yesterday.  she was somewhat shocked.  she has tv crush on mr. ac360 (i think she does).  anyway, i told her that everyone knows about it.  now, he basically just confirm the truth.  she said she still has a crush on him and that next time i see him, to give her a call ASAP so she can introduce herself to him. :)

i was reading an article on cnn.com about this a few minutes ago and a portion of the article caught my interest and i quote:
Commenter Puddin wrote the question this way: "I have wanted to ask this question for a long time: why do people who are gay or lesbian, etc. feel they have to announce it? I have never heard a straight person do this. No one has a need to know!"
The responses, from fellow CNN.com commenters, were varied:
• Jeff: "Because people ask. When people stop caring enough to no longer ask because it doesn't matter then gays will stop 'announcing it.' (coming out.)."
• wcbhwk: "Couple of good reasons. First, the more people who do this, especially prominent people in our society, the more others will understand that being gay is not that unusual. Second, and more importantly, through our close mindedness and repression, both tacit and direct, we have forced many of those who are gay to live this aspect of their lives secretively. It takes courage to be openly gay, even today. While that is sad, it is still reality. So by showing courage to come out publicly, it sends a message to others to also have courage."
**side note:  i actually have not met mr. ac360 personally.  i was crossing 6th avenue one day on my way to work when this guy on a bicycle literally crossed my path (not intentional).  i looked up and immediately i recognize the face (and the gray hair) - it was mr. ac360. i don't think anyone noticed it was him.  i figured he was heading to work which is a few blocks away from where i work.

we finally met...

i was transferring some pictures to my backup file when i stumble on david.  oh how time flies.  after three visits to your homeland, we finally met this past may.   we didn't see each other eye to eye - literally - but for me, it was love at first sight.  hope to see you again.

photobook...

about two years ago while reading a post of another blogger, i was intrigued on how to create photobooks?  i know for a fact that most people now a days don't print pictures like they used to.  either save it on a disk, a website, or who knows but never print them anymore.  anyway, i fell in love with the idea of creating my own photo book.

a week after reading the said post, i managed to create one.  i like the layout, the concept, the whole thing.  problem was that i was not sure if i actually wanted to order one.  i was saying to myself, why print a book with limited number of pictures on it when i can print the entire collection of pictures?  it just doesn't make sense to me.

fast track to october 2011.  the whole family went on vacation to Florida.  took a lot of pictures and the idea of creating a photobook came up again.  created one a week after the vacation but guess what, it never materialized.

sometime last month, while checking groupon, i noticed that there was an offer on photobooks.  it's from the same company where i created the most recent project and it's 70% off the price.  i figured since it's not that expensive, why not.  so with a bit of hesitation still, i finally ordered the photobook.  a week after ordering, i got it and the final outcome was a hit in my family.  they all love it.
