not too many people (especially here in New York) know that the week before the US Open officially start, there's a great chance to see tennis players without spending hundreds of dollars.
last thursday, i took advantage of having a day off. a fews ago, i read in a magazine that during the qualifying rounds at the US Open, there is no entrance fee (which i think cost about $50 or more to get in). of course the big names are not playing. basically these players are those who are making a name for themselves. for example, i saw a game of Bobby Reynolds. he's from the US and he is rank somewhere around 116th in the world. but in any case, even though the big names are not due to play until the following week (in this case August 27th is the official start), it's the best time to see them practice....which basically i got lucky to see a few.
